Summer time is best known for backyard barbeques, pool parties, and family get-togethers. Although all of these occasions can be a great deal of fun, the summer treats which are often prepared can lead to a bulging belly. Some of the most popular foods of the summer include: fried chicken, ribs, potato salad, ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers, cocktails and beer. 


All of these foods can definitely pack quite the calories punch. In this article I will reveal some of the most fattening of all summer foods: 
1. High- fat meats 
The average backyard barbecue will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, ribs, and cheeseburgers. All of these foods are laden with calories. For instance, a 20 ounce T-bone can have 1,540 calories and 124 grams of fat. An average cheeseburger has approximately 750 calories and 45 grams of fat.

2. Mayonnaise based salads
It seems almost impossible that a small half-cup portion of potato salad has 180 calories and 12 grams of fat. It is definitely due to the mayo which makes the salad oh so delicious.
3. Alcoholic drinks
Sure alcoholic drinks are delicious by the pool, but how many calories do they actually contain? Well, here are some numbers to help you decide just how badly you need that cocktail: pina colada 245-490, daiquiri 300-800, and Long Island ice tea 520 calories. And let's face it, how many of us have just one?

4. Ice cream
Just a cup of soft serve ice cream can have 380 calories and 22 whopping grams of fat.
So if you are trying to lose weight, then you should definitely pay close attention to your summer eating habits.#
