The Health Benefits Of Juicing

Juicing raw fruits and vegetables is by far the best way to give your body the nutrients it needs for youthfulness and disease-free living.

Much of the foods people eat, such as french fries, fried chicken, microwave popcorn, doughnuts, margarine, cookies and pastries contain an artery-clogging fat called Trans fat. This fat can lead to type two diabetes, high cholesterol and other health problems. If you desire to live a long, healthy, vibrant life, you have to take care of your body by giving it the proper nutrition. That is why I am such a strong advocate for Juicing.

Health Benefits

The benefits of consuming these freshly made, health drinks are many. They aid in keeping organs such as heart, liver, and kidneys strong and healthy. They also help prevent colon cancer and keep your digestive system in tiptop shape. This is because they are a great supplier of protein, vitamins and minerals.

These drinks also boost the immune system and promote good-looking healthy skin.
Another health benefit to consuming these drinks is they help you lose weight and lower cholesterol naturally.

Nutritional Health Begins On The Inside

I am a firm believer that if you work on being healthy on the inside it will show-up on the outside.
Sometimes when I run into old friends they tell me that I  look very healthy. I believe the juices that I drink has a lot to do with this.

I know a woman who smoked for many years. When she finally quit smoking I noticed in a short period of time, the skin on her face look healthier. There was almost a glow to it. Can you visualize what would happen if more and more people would work on being healthy from the inside out? I can!

Raw Vegetable juice Verses Cooked Vegetables

You might be saying to yourself I eat a lot of cooked vegetables with my meal why then should I consider juicing? Well allow me give you two reasons:

1. When you cook vegetables at temperatures above 114 degrees, heat destroys the enzymes. (Enzymes are naturally occurring chemical substances in the human body that help a chemical reaction take place). In other words enzymes are important because they aid in the digestion and absorption of food in your body.

Fruit and vegetable juice that are sold in a shop or supermarket must go through a pasteurizing process before they can be sold to you the customer. The reason for this pasteurizing process is to give these drinks shelf life. However during this process heat reaches about 120 degrees thus destroying the enzymes.

In contrast enzymes in raw vegetable or fruit drinks are live. So they are able to do the job they are intended to do.

2. When you juice, you separate the liquid from the fiber. Thus food value is available to the body in much larger amounts than if the piece of fruit or vegetable were eaten whole.

If you ate one raw carrot, your body would only be able to absorb about 1% of the available vitamin A (beta carotene). That is because most of the nutrients in a carrot are locked in its fiber. However if you separate the liquid from the fiber, your body would be able to assimilate 90% of the nutrients. Pretty amazing!

Simple Homemade Natural Yogurt

You need no complicated equipment or yogurt makers.  At home with little cost you can make delicious, healthy natural yogurt for your family.

Yogurt has been a very nutritious food for centuries.  It is a great way of preserving milk a little longer.  The benefits of regular natural yogurt consumption are huge.  All the yeasts and bacteria found in natural yogurt improve our intestinal tract making us digest everything else we eat, more efficiently.  Many people (such as those with colitis) who find it hard to digest milk have no such problem with natural yogurt.  For them, yogurt is a great way to get some dairy into their diet without causing any problems.

Yogurt making at home is a fun activity.  It is a great way to supply your family with the health benefits of yogurt without the expense.  All you need to pay for is the milk and a few minutes of energy consumed by your cooker.

There is absolutely no need to buy a yogurt maker or any other expensive kitchenware!  All you need to make your own yogurt is a pan, bowl, sandwich box or similar and a blanket!  This is the traditional and simple method to make natural yogurt:
  • Boil up some milk
  • Allow to cool
  • Mix with a 'starter' which is just a small amount of natural yogurt
  • Keep warm for 8 hours (in the blanket)
  • That's it - your yogurt will be ready!
The 'yogurt starter' is just a way of giving the batch of milk all the right yeasts, bacterias and enzymes to encourage it to turn itself into yogurt.  Once the yogurt is made you can refrigerate it to prevent it becoming more sour.

You can use any milk but full-fat milk will give you a more creamy yogurt.  Ultra heat treated (UHT) or 'long life' milk is perfectly fine.

The Health Benefits Of Wheat Grass

When you hear of people drinking juice made from wheat grass, what is your first reaction? If you are like many people you probably turned up your nose and thought 'how disgusting!' However, this healthy juice is growing in popularity and not just among healthy food enthusiasts. So what are the healthy benefits of drinking this juice?

There are many health benefits of this juice that if people only knew, they would likely visit the nearest supermarket and buy wheat grass products immediately. It is a fact that wheat grass is one of the most potently healthy substances available. People who are using this juice have seen an increase in their energy levels. Aside from that, they also notice that they have clearer skin than before. All other illnesses such as coughs and colds also seem to instantly vanish. There are even other people who have testified to the disappearance of their gray hairs.
The many health benefits of wheat grass should be taken advantage of by drinking at least 30mls a day. This 30mls of wheat grass juice is the equivalent to eating 1kg of green, leafy vegetables. This juice is a very good alternative and substitute whenever you are too tired and busy from your work schedules. It is believed that wheat grass also contains over 90 minerals. Aside from that, high concentrations of alkaline minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium, and magnesium are also present in the wheat grass products. These minerals are some of the reasons why drinking this juice is good in keeping the body's immune system strong and healthy.

Other health benefits of this juice include the benefits taken from the presence of essential enzymes needed in order for the body to function more efficiently. Some of these enzymes are as follows: protease - which is needed in the digestion of protein, amylase - which is the one responsible for the facilitation of digestion, cytochrome oxidase - a powerful oxidant needed to fight off harmful radicals in the body. In addition there is transhydrogenese - the enzyme responsible for the strengthening of heart muscle, superoxide dismutase - known for its ability to lessen the effect of radiation and slow down the process of cellular aging, and lipase - which is a fat-splitting enzyme.
In addition to all of these, it is believed that wheat grass essentially has more vitamin C than oranges, which shows that it is a very good alternative to eating several fruits. And perhaps one of the best health benefits of this juice is the fact that it helps build healthy blood. This is very essential because blood carries oxygen from the heart to different parts of the body. By increasing the oxygen transported by the blood, you will feel an increase in your endurance during exercises.
As you can see, wheat grass is one of the superfoods that can help boost your health and give you the energy you need. Plus, it really doesn't taste too bad!

6 Health Benefits Of Honey

Honey is one of nature's rarities: a food that actually fills you up with wholesome properties and leaves you without cravings.

From the moment that bees start to produce honey, it is physically engineered to create enzymes and other health properties that have earned it the reputation as a leader in whole foods. GFM honey and Manuka honey and virtually every other form of whole food are essential to an organic diet, and they feature a number of benefits to back up their reputations.

1. Honey is more filling than other alternatives.
Many foods may fill you up, but with all the additives included, they ultimately work against your health because they have you craving more just a few hours later. Honey's nutritional properties hang with you for a longer amount of time making your diet something that works for you instead of against you.

2. Honey satisfies the natural craving for sweets in a healthier way.
No matter how strong you think you are when it comes to sweets, you will eventually get the urge to dip in to some chocolate or some other sugary form of goodness. With honey, however, the craving is subsided without all the empty calories and weight gain. The naturally sweet properties of the substance act as an enzyme-creating fuel that satisfies the natural urge in a good way.

3. Honey generates heat.
This benefit is an especially appealing one as the weather turns cold and you find your body shivering more from the elements. Incorporating honey into your diet helps your body to warm the blood in such a way that can actually produce savings on energy costs and effectiveness. For those with thin blood, honey is a natural boost that should not be left out as the days grow shorter.

4. Honey creates and renews energy.
Athletes often prefer to make honey a part of their training and diet regimen as it has been known to supply the body with new energy through its natural carbohydrates. In addition to this, it can help the body to more quickly replenish energy after a good workout.

5. Honey is germicidal.
Not only does it taste good and make a nice addition to the diet, honey is also beneficial when it comes to fighting against germs. Unlike milk, a breeding ground for germs, honey is able to stave off bacteria and result in a healthier you.

6. Honey can improve human digestion.
Improving the digestion process means greater regularity and less risk of digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome. By coating the intestine and fighting off bacteria in the tract, this substance is one of the great natural forms of internal medicine. While it may not cure all of your ills, it will put you on the fast track to a healthier lifestyle.

Nutritional Yeast - What Is It And How To Use It

So, you've made the jump from vegetarian to vegan. You have decided to live without dairy, but you have this huge craving for cheese! You can either ignore it or find a way to satisfy that craving. My suggestion is to satisfy it!
Now, the question is how. Maybe you have heard of a product called Nutritional Yeast. But, what is it and how do you use it?

Nutritional Yeast is an inactive yeast that is yellow and comes in either a dry, flaky texture or a powder. It is made by culturing the yeast with a mixture of beet molasses and sugarcane. Most brands are fortified with B12, which is helpful to vegetarians and vegan since that is sometimes the hardest thing to get from our diet alone. It is also naturally low in fat and sodium.
The best thing about Nutritional Yeast is that it has a naturally wonderful nutty cheesy flavor. So, it's easy to make a great cheesy dish using this.

Where do you find this stuff? It's actually a little more common than you might think. A few groceries stores are starting to carry it, if they have a health food section. Usually, it can be found a local health food store. It's great if you can find it in bulk because it's a lot cheaper. If all else fails, there is a few places online that sell it and can ship it to you.
So, what kinds of things can you make with it? Well, you can sprinkle it on popcorn, mix it into scrambled "eggs", mixed it into mashed potatoes, put it on top of spaghetti, stir it into soups, and add it to pizza. I could go on and on. My favorite way is to make a sauce with it and make macaroni and cheese. You can use it to make nachos, pour on veggies, pour it on casseroles, lasagna, or baked potatoes. The possibilities are endless with this stuff!
